Rōmaji (ローマ字) is the romanized representation of the Japanese language. That is to say, it is the phonetic representation of the Japanese language in characters normally used in the English language (e.g., a, b, c). The Wiktionary represents Japanese-language segments in three ways: in normal form (with kanji, if appropriate), in hiragana form (this differs from kanji form only when the segment contains kanji), and in rōmaji form.
