Perhaps from a Proto-Indo-European *ḱeuk- (white), with cognates including Sanskrit शोचति (śócati) and शुक्र (šukrá). Could also be onomatopoeic from the sound of the swan's call (compare Russian кы-кы (ky-ky), cry of a swan)).
