These are the nominative singular forms, i.e. the "base forms", of the Finnish passive past participles.

Like all the nominal words in Finnish (nouns, proper nouns, adjectives — positive, comparative and superlative — and pronouns), the singular forms of these nominal verb forms are declined in 11 grammatical cases and their plural forms in 13 grammatical cases (in addition to the basic form, nominative).

Their declined singular and plural forms (e.g. illative singular, genitive plural) are in the subcategory.

These verb forms are used to form the impersonal simple past tense negative, impersonal perfect tense positive and negative and impersonal past perfect tense positive and negative. These correspond the English past participles of transitive verbs in the respect that they can be used in the same sense as adjectives — the major difference is, however, that when a Finnish noun gets a passive past participle as an attribute or a passive past participle is an object of the copular verb olla, "to be", followed by the subject, it means that someone or something else has done something to the subject:

Aseistettu nainen (with aseistettu being the passive past participle of aseistaa, "to arm"), "an armed woman", is a woman that someone has supplied arms with,...
...whereas...
...aseistautunut nainen (with aseistautunut being the active past participle of aseistautua, "to arm oneself"), (also: "an armed woman") is a woman that has armed herself.
