How to help!

If you have a microphone and a copy of Audacity, or any other free ".ogg" recording software, please consider uploading your pronunciation to Commons. Remember that the default installation of audacity has the input volume set to about 20%. Most contributors here have had to change that to 100% to get decent recordings. See Wikipedia for other helpful software options. Filenames should be the ISO-639 language code, a hyphen, a region code (e.g. "us" or "uk" or "au"), another hyphen, the word being pronounced, with "ogg" as the extension. For example "en-us-Wiktionary.ogg". For homonyms we usually tack on the part of speech, e.g. "en-us-abuse-noun.ogg". When uploading to commons, remember to add [[Category:English pronunciation]] to the file description. Note that commons will now call the file "Image:En-us-Wiktionary.ogg" (adding "Image:" and capitalizing first letter.) Once file is uploaded on commons satisfactorily, the Wiktionary word should be linked to it by removing {{rfap}} and adding in {{audio|en-us-{{PAGENAME}}.ogg|Audio (US)}}. Replace "(US)" with region used previously. Preview before saving! Then return here to select the next word you'd like to help us with.
