From Punjabi ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ (Gurmukhī), commonly translated as "from the Mouth of the Guru", since it was standardised by Guru Angad Dev in the 16th century.
- An abugida script, or writing system, designed for writing the Punjabi language. It has been adapted to write other languages, such as Braj Bhasha, Hindi, Sanskrit and Sindhi.
