Etymology

Named by Dutch explorers Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederick de Houtman between 1595 and 1597. From [[w:Template:lang:la language|Template:lang:la]][[Category:Template:lang:la derivations]] triangulum, a "triangle" + australe, "southern".
