From [[w:Template:lang:la language|Template:lang:la]][[Category:Template:lang:la derivations]] deletus, past participle of delere "destroy, blot out, efface," from delevi, originally perf. tense of delinere "to daub, erase by smudging," from de- "from, away" + linere "to smear, wipe."
