Etymology

From Middle French dental, derived from [[w:Template:lang:la language|Template:lang:la]][[Category:Template:lang:la derivations]] dens "tooth", from Proto-Indo-European *H₁d-ent- (tooth), participle of Proto-Indo-European *H₁ed- (eat), perhaps from an older sense "bite".
