Finnish

Etymology

Pronoun stem jo- + enclitic particle -kin.

Pronoun

jokin (stem jo-, see below)

  1. (indefinite) something.
  2. (indefinite, Template loop detected: Template:context 1) some, one, a.

Inflection

Case suffixes are regular. Only the first part is declined, the enclitic particle doesn't change its form. Some cases have parallel forms without the k. The instructive and abessive cases are extremely rarely or never used. The sublative, lative and causative forms are used as adverbs.

Usage notes

  • In colloquial Finnish, all cases except for nominative singular are often used when referring to people (i.e. used instead of joku).

Derived terms

  • jollakin tavalla (adessive sg.) = by some means, in a way or another, somehow
