First attested in 1781. From French pédagogique from [[w:Template:lang:la language|Template:lang:la]][[Category:Template:lang:la derivations]] paedagogicus from Ancient Greek παιδαγωγικός (paidagōgikos) from παιδαγωγός (paidagōgos), “‘teacher, tutor’”) from παῖς (pais), “‘child’”) + ἄγω (agō), “‘I lead’”).
