Catalan

Pronoun

vostè (stressed personal) sg.

  1. you (formal)

Usage notes

Vostè is a very polite form, used to address a single person. It is used with the third person singular form of the verb (cf. the polite usage of usted in Spanish). Traditionally it was reserved to judges, doctors... while vós was used in most contexts, for example with elder people. Nowadays, its use is becoming more common than that of "vós" because of the contact with Spanish language.
